Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Be a volunteer in our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Center this tax season! Volunteers will review client documentation, interview the client, and prepare Federal and State income tax returns using computer software. Only basic returns will be prepared - no businesses, rentals, estates, trusts, etc.
This is an outstanding opportunity to help low to middle income families quickly receive all their tax credits, including Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), and refunds without the high price associated with big-name tax preparers and payday loans. Through our first 3 years of operation, we have help taxpayers retrieve over three quarters of a million dollars in tax credits and refunds. And we have a 100% accuracy rate. Imagine what we could do with your help.

We also provide financial literacy information, helping clients understand the importance of savings, budgeting, and avoiding predatory lenders.

Our dates will be each Wednesday evening from 5:30-9:30 and occasional Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Our tax prep service will be offered from January 21, 2009 through April 15, 2009. Volunteer for all hours or for specific dates.
Volunteers must be certified through Tax Wise. The full, on-line Link and Learn course is available at www.irs.gov. They also must be comfortable with basic computer use and have the ability to use Microsoft Windows-type programs. All volunteers must be certified.
