JAYCEES AGAINST YOUTH SMOKING or J.A.Y.S

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on December 1, 2008

The (J)AYCEES (A)gainst (Y)outh (S)moking or JAYS program, has been an extraordinary successful national project launched by the United States Junior Chamber ("JAYCEES").

Volunteers would come forth to familiarize themselves with the program booklet that provides an informative, educational and public health lesson for all people of the hazards of direct and environmental smoking. Geared for Elementary and Middle School-Aged kids (preferably 10-13 years old), volunteers will present the merits of the program into the school district perhaps working with school nurses, social workers, teachers and parents. This material would be reviewed with the school children and associates to conclude the project within a very short period of time

There is a modest requirement for a volunteer to read and be somewhat familiar with the basic elements of the project, which are contained in the JAYS program manual. It's very easy reading, quite informative and actually excites the volunteer in bringing a real serious message to school kids about the 'bad effects' of smoking.. to themselves and others!

JAYCEE personnel will be happy to coordinate with the volunteer(s) the initiation of the project with school officials and allow both volunteer and children to experience the successful awareness of anti-smoking educational material as a public service campaign.
