Caregivers make a difference!

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 14, 2009

Caregiver volunteers provide a crucial assistance to home-bound elders, to remain living independently in their own homes. These folks love the contact, the company, the support. Caregivers can drive people to medical appointments, the hair dresser, the nursing home to visit a loved one. Caregivers can shop for someone just out of the hospital. Caregivers can just visit for an hour or two a week and chat, play cards, read, visit the garden or do whatever. Caregivers can take out the trash, change a burned out light bulb, fix a leaky faucet or a mal-functioning light switch. If you do not get around, you can call people from home and just chat for awhile. Caregivers meet so many important needs while creating a feeling in themselves of satisfaction, importance, giving back, or just being neighborly.

You need to be able to drive, or to have a phone. The program provides a supplemental accident/liability insurance policy at no cost to you.
