Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on July 16, 2009 |
Volunteer will be trained to teach residents and short-term rehabilitation guests in how to use the touch screen computer and how to access the TouchTownUSA resources so they may e-mail their family and friends, go on the web, meet others with similar interests, read a hometown newspaper, and use it for recreational games. Some persons will need to "use your hands" on the computer because of the physical limits they have. You may find yourself helping someone to see pictures of their grandkids on Facebook, be in a chat group with an elder a thousand miles away, or find their favorite family vacation spot from years ago. It is a great way to get to know someone and make a difference in their daily life. Usually day times work best from 9:30 am to 5pm. A regular weekly commitment to come for a period of time helps you get to know people. They get to know you and when you're available. This is a one on one volunteer opportunity.
The volunteer should know how to run a computer, have good listening skills, and be willing to follow our computer & internet protocols. Background screening, orientation, and training are provided. This opportunity is sponsored by: Saint Elizabeth Manor, East Bay
