Community Literacy Volunteer Assistant - Internships Member Agencies Internship

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 1, 2009

This Internship will perform duties assigned by Community Literacy Coordinator in order to support the implementation of the Books Open Life's Doors (BOLD) Program. The BOLD program places trained literacy and mathematics volunteers in all of the Newport elementary schools. The intern will set up and help maintain administrative systems to support the recruiting, training, placement and support of BOLD volunteers. The intern will also help establish and maintain the BOLD program-marketing plan.

The intern will support the program in ways that provide experiences in program marketing and administration. The intern will also gain exposure to a unique collaborative community-related education outreach program. BOLD volunteers change children's lives, and this provides a most rewarding work environment.

Intern will be required to attend the BOLD volunteer training, which a one-time session that lasts for 1 1/2 hours, and to undergo a criminal background check. Position requires eight hours a week minimum, and the intern contributes all of that time. This is an unpaid position.
