The RI Society to Prevent Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has established several programs to assist and educate members of our community. Our programs include: Shelter adoptions-At any given time, we can be home to over 100 dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, rabbits, and other companion animals. We attempt to re-home any animal that does not demonstrate aggression. Cruelty Investigations-We will speak with anyone who has a concern for the welfare of an animal and advise him of the best course of action. Humane Education-Topics include bite prevention, pet care, pet overpopulation, careers, etc. and we work with children and adults to foster kindness, respect and empathy for all living things. Pet Assisted Therapy-We will work with the Delta Society to promote animals helping people to improve their health and quality of life by having pets visit people at nursing homes, hospitals, schools, libraries, etc. The Marvin Fund-Assists elderly, disabled and low-income earning families defray the veterinary costs for their pets in time of need.
