AIDS Project Rhode Island is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where people affected by HIV can access resources to make informed decisions regarding their quality of life, and to stop the transmission of HIV through advocacy, prevention, and education programs. AIDS Project Rhode Island provides a broad array of services to people living with HIV/AIDS, including assessment, referral, case management, counseling, emergency assistance, financial assistance, support groups, a buddy program and wellness programs. We offer prevention programs to schools, community organizations, and businesses. The AIDS Project is a leader in HIV/AIDS advocacy throughout the state.
Founded in 1985, AIDS Project Rhode Island was the state's first AIDS Service Organization. As the face of the AIDS epidemic has changed, our clientele and the services we provide have also changed. In spite of the development of medications and the improvement in care, there is certainly no cure for AIDS and it is vital that the population be aware that everyone is at risk and that the fight against this dreaded disease is far from over.
