We foster an environment of safety and learning in a family oriented center. We reflect the growing diversity of American families in the composition of our board, staff and volunteers. EBC House provides services for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, through safe shelter, individual and group counseling, a 24 hour crisis hotline, court advocacy, in-school programming and professional training and education. We started in 1977 as a Community Improvement Project with the intent of providing immediate temporary shelter of women who were vicitms of domestic violence. In July, 1979, EBC began operation of its 24 hour, 7 day a week crises hotline. In 1981, EBC opened its doors as a short term, safe shelter. The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center opened in the winter of 2004 as a community center. Find out about all the volunteer opportunities at EBC House.
