Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence's mission is to enhance the quality of life for youth, with particular emphasis on those ages 6 to 18 who live in neighborhoods of limited resources, through structured educational, health, social, physical, vocational, guidance, and character development services conducted in safe havens by nurturing staff and volunteers. Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence follows Boys & Girls Clubs of America's program strategies: a mix of one-on-one, small group, and large group/drop-in services and activities in five disciplines: - Character and leadership development - empowering youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, develop a positive-self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others' cultural identities.
- Education and career development - enabling youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to achieve success in careers.
- Health and life skills - developing young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, help set personal goals, and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
- The arts - enabling youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciate the visual arts, crafts, performing arts, and creative writing.
- Sports, fitness, and recreation - developing youth fitness routines, encouraging positive use of leisure time and skills for stress management, as well as building appreciative of the environment, and enhancing social skills.
