Recycling for RI Education is a women initiated and operated 501(c)3 non-profit educational and environmental organization that has as its mission to encourage preservation of the environment by diverting clean non-toxic reusable excess inventory from the business community to educators and community organizations. Its vision is to encourage self-discovery by active participation in teaching and learning through creative experiences. RRIE is committed to the preservation of the environment by reducing land filling through clean, non-toxic solid waste diversion. Our organization has a thirteen-year history of collecting and productively recycling manufacturers' safe, non-toxic by-products, overruns and scraps. We distribute donated materials to schools, individual teachers, and other non-profit organizations, such as, Boys & Girls Club, day care providers for children and the elderly, after school programs and many other groups in need of support. While supporting the educational community, businesses dispose of materials that would otherwise go to a landfill, save valuable space and receive a tax deduction. Recycling for RI Education currently helps divert more 10 tons of waste from Rhode Island's landfills each month. We accomplish this by working through a partnership involving more than 150 Rhode Island businesses and more than 450 schools and other educational and community organizations. Our organization also offers workshops to professional and paraprofessional staff for nominal fees. These workshops may be tailored to meet the needs of the school community through emphasis on math, science, art, language development, conflict management, and parent involvement in homework and interactive activities.
Recycling for RI Education welcomes more volunteers to expand their services in our community. Be sure to tell everyone you know about the great volunteer opportunities that you are finding at www.vcri.org!
