The Queens Galley
The Queens Galley brings awareness, education, relief and prevention of food insecurity. We do this by creating and implementing programs, activities and services to connect people to food, food resources and teach how to make the best of resources to which they have access.
Description:
The Queens Galley soup kitchen serves 3 meals a day every day of the year to people in need without requiring proof of poverty. We are partnered with Share Our Strength to bring Operation Frontline to the Hudson Valley, a hands on culinary nutrition education series of classes for low income families.
History:
The Queens Galley was founded in 2003 to help food stamp and WIC participants stretch their food benefit dollars. The soup kitchen opened in 2006 and is now serving over 9,000 meals each month.
