The Community Action Committee of Danbury (CACD) is an antipoverty Agency that provides Emergency Energy Assistance, Early Childhood Education, After school activities for low income neighborhoods, Housing mediation and Eviction prevention, Rental Assistance,Emergency Food Assistance, Financial counseling, Individual Development and Individual Income Tax Preparation for low income individuals.
History:
The Community Action Committee of Danbury, Inc., (CACD) has celebrated over 30 years of continuous service to the greater Danbury community. CACD's service geography includes nineteen towns and municipalities in Northern Fairfield and Northwestern Litchfield Counties. The CACD Catchment Area represents a diverse ethnic and economic region. We find affluent and middle income suburbs, low income urban areas, isolated poor rural communities and affluent surburban areas. CACD is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of elected low income neighborhood representatives, public officials or their appointed representatives and private citizens representing community agencies, business and industry. This group provides diverse viewpoints and has effectively supported the vision and mission listed above.
