RSVP Of Northern Fairfield County
RSVP of Northern Fairfield County matches the skills and talents of adults age 55 and over with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities in our community. RSVP volunteers use their life experiences and skills to answer the call of their neighbors in need through enhancing and supporting services provided by area agencies and nonprofit organizations. Currently RSVP of Northern Fairfield County has 585 active volunteers that annually provide over 75,000 hours of service to their local communities and organizations.
Description:
RSVP of Northern Fairfield County provides older Americans the opportunity to apply their life experience to meeting community needs. RSVP volunteers serve in a diverse range of nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and faith-based groups. Volunteers serve from a few hours a month to almost full-time. Most volunteers are paired with local public or private nonprofit community organizations that are already helping meet community needs.
History:
RSVP is unique. It was created nationally in 1969, as a volunteer program of the Administration on Aging by Title VI, Part A of the Older American Act. Our local program began in 1972 and has been in Danbury for 36 years and is currently sponsored by the Community Action Committee of Danbury. RSVP is part of the National Senior Service Corp., and is managed by the Corporation for National Service.
