Becoming a volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GAL)is an opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting an independent investigation with everyone involved in a child's life, working with children that are victims of abuse and neglect, and making best interest recommendations on their behalf in juvenile court. There is a mandatory 40 hour training to be completed before being assigned a case. The Department of Children and Families also requires a full background check for all volunteers. Children in Placement requires a minimum of a 2 year commitment for the GAL position. To fill out an application and the background check form please go to www.childreninplacement.org.
