Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The New Milford Youth Agency is seeking qualified volunteers for our confidential crisis hotline. Our primary target community for this hotline is the youth of New Milford. The hotline purpose is a safe, confidential hotline where the youth of New Milford can call if they are in crisis, need referral information or just need someone to listen to them. During weekdays the hotline is covered by the Youth Agency staff. Hotline is staffed by volunteers on weekday nights and weekends and holidays. Shifts are Mon- Fri 5:30PM- 8AM/ Saturdays and Sundays are split into 2 shifts: 830AM-3:30PM and 3:30PM-8:30AM. Hotline workers work from home and MUST be reachable by phone during their shift. Call volume is very low at this time, and volunteers often get zero calls on their shift. But we are beginning a campaign to reach out to New Milford Youth to publicize the hotline- so call volume may increase.

Volunteers must be mature, good listeners, empathetic and committed to helping young people. VOLUNTEER TRAINING is approximately 6 hours at Youth Agency in New Milford. (Flexible training schedule- time depends on # of new volunteers training)
