Registered animal teams are such an important part of offering comfort and joy at end of life. So many patients miss the animals they had to leave behind when they moved into a nursing facility - or the animals that brought them joy in their life. Registered teams bring flooding back memories of cats and dogs people loved as children and open the gates to life review. A team visited this one elderly gentleman who lived in a nursing facility for many years..the dog inched his way up to the gentleman's bed and nuzzled his hand.....tears sprang to the man's eyes as he spoke about the dog that was his sole childhood companion - and how much he missed that dog......the therapeutic touch of an animal - amazing wonders will appear...
Pet teams need to register as animal assisted therapy teams, be up to date with all vaccinations. There is an application packet for the person and the animal. The person must complete a free hospice training program. This opportunity is sponsored by: Masonicare Home Health & Hospice
