Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on December 10, 2008 |
Save the Sound provides support and leadership to volunteers across Connecticut who want to help protect our coastlines and inland shores. Our "Coastal Cleanup" program is geared toward getting people directly involved in caring for their waterways, raising awareness about the problem of marine litter, and collecting data in order to target the most problematic litter items and stop them at their source. There are two ways to volunteer for a shoreline cleanup:
You can become a Cleanup Captain! Choose an area near you that you feel needs some special attention. Recruit your friends, family, sports team, youth group or coworkers to help. Save the Sound will provide supplies, information, and help with advertising you event. If you don't have time to organize your own event, consider joining an already existing cleanup. All of Save the Sound's shoreline cleanups will be listed on our website along with contact information for each Cleanup Captain. You may contact the Cleanup Captain directly to get more information about volunteering for their cleanup. After registering with them, just report on the scheduled day ready to pick up some trash!
