Christian Community Action, Norwalk, Inc. (CCA) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian agency that works to provide food, furniture, financial assistance, and other necessities to people in need who are living in the greater Norwalk area.
Description:
CCA runs a daily food pantry, accepts and delivers used furniture, provides limited financial assistance for rent, security deposit and utility bills, collects and distributes children's books, housewares and dishes, and computers, operates a holiday gift program, and organizes a new mattress program for children twice annually.
History:
CCA was set up by two churches in Norwalk in 1972 to operate a food pantry. It was incorporated in 1974 and moved into the NEON building in the 1980's which association it still maintains. The furniture program began about 20 years ago and the other programs have been added as the need and resources were found.
