New Covenant House Of Hospitality

The Mission of New Covenant House is to provide a nutritious meal to all those who are hungry. By creating a safe, warm and compassionate environment, we are taking the first steps toward empowering men, women, and children to reach their full potential and regain their dignity and self-respect.

Description:
New Covenant House is the only soup kitchen in the greater Stamford area. We are open to the public and provide two hot meals daily, lunch and dinner, to approximately 200 individuals. We also have a food pantry program that distributes bagged groceries every Tuesday, serving over 500 families each month. In addition, we have on-site medical clinic that was formed through collaboration with Optimus Health Center that offers blood pressure and diabetes screening; flu shots; medications and TB testing, all free of charge.

History:
In October 1978, New Covenant House of Hospitality served its first meal from the basement of a little building at 66 West Main Street, Stamford. Since then thousands of hungry people have found physical and social nourishment at NCH.

Forced from our West Main Street residence in January 1990, we established a long-term home at our present location in the Yerwood Center, 90 Fairfield Avenue, on Stamford’s West Side. Through the generosity of volunteers and area organizations, as well as the City of Stamford and under the leadership of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, we were able to build a first class kitchen and serving area to feed our guests. Now 26 years later, we prepare two hot meals a day, 365 days a year.

The Mission of New Covenant House is to provide a nutritious meal to all those who are hungry. By creating a safe, warm and compassionate environment, we are taking the first steps toward empowering men, women, and children to reach their full potential and regain their dignity and self-respect.

New Covenant House Of Hospitality 5 Overall Experience    Experience rating
This was a wonderful experience.
I served dinner along side a group of young people from St. Aloyisius in New Canaan. The kitchen and organization were impressive and the job they do is so needed and appreciated.
