The Sexual Assault Crisis and Education Center Inc. of lower Fairfield county provides counseling and support services to victims of sexual assault and works towards the elimination of sexual violence through community wide educational programs.

Description:
The Sexual Assault Crisis and Education Center provides free and confidential support services to victims of sexual assault and their families throughout the eight towns of lower Fairfield county. Services provided include a 24-hour crisis hotline, 12 sessions of crisis counseling, support groups, personal advocacy through the hospitals, police stations and court processes as well as a community education department which provides personal safety programs to schools, businesses and police departments in our service area.

History:
The Sexual Assault Crisis and Education Center is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation, established in January 1979 with a grant from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, in response to a need for education concerning rape and for crisis interventions for victims.
