Stamford Art Association
The Stamford Art Association(SAA) townhouse gallery is utilized to exhibit local and national works. Volunteers who are artists or friends of the arts help with receiving and opening receptions at our exhibits which occur about every six weeks. The highest quality of our shows is assured by the renowned jurors we attract from neighboring museums and galleries.Free to public.
Description:
Among its 8 annual exhibits, SAA hosts a High School Scholarship Show open to high school students throughout Fairfield County. The Student Show includes $3000 in scholarships and awards In addition, we host the Faber Birren National Color Award Show which receives entries from all over the country and is juried by a curator from a NYC museum. Nonmembers are eligible to exhibit at shows. Monetary awards are given at most shows. An annual Holiday and Craft Show is part of the schedule as well as a three year invitational program to honor Stamford artists - "Stamford Art Treasures - Past, Present and Future".
History:
Stamford Art Association (SAA) was established in 1971 as a non-profit organization by area artists.SAA currently hosts two national shows and 6 local shows. The Board of Directors are volunteers who meet monthly to discuss and guide SAA activities. SAA welcomes all artists to display work regardless of membership status. Members of the association do not have to be juried in. SAA has received a CAPP grant from the City of Stamford for since the CAPP grant inception.
