People who like to smile and who enjoy being with other people are encouraged to apply to be volunteers at The Jewish Home for the Elderly. Volunteers at the Home help residents in wheelchairs get from their rooms to on-site areas such as the synagogue, activity rooms, Rehab Gym, Beauty Salon & Barber Shop; Volunteers visit residents to share a cup of coffee in the Corner Cafe, play cards or assist with opening mail; volunteers assist in activity groups, guide residents in their Computer Lab as they search the web, send email to their grandchildren, and seek their favorite performers and places on YouTube; and volunteers bring their guitars, clarinets and violins to entertain. Volunteers bring their unique personalities, talents and interests to create their assignments. Volunteers design their own schedules in accord with the needs of the people of The Jewish Home.
