Greet the Public at SoundWaters Coastal Center

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 23, 2009

Many children, accompanied by their parents or grandparents, come to the SoundWaters Coastal Center at Cove Island Park in Stamford to see our exhibits and live marine animals. SoundWaters is an environmental education organization located in the former Holly House, with beautiful views of Long Island Sound.

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy talking to people. We need friendly "docents" who are willing to volunteer for 3-4 hours, once a week, or even once a month, during the warmer months. We are flexible on schedules but prefer a consistent time. We understand that vacations might interrupt your service. We will provide training.

Our only requirement is that volunteers enjoy working with the public. We will provide training sessions to acquaint you with the exhibits, the history of SoundWaters and the Holly House, and information about the animals in our live marine tanks. We will also provide ongoing assistance as needed.
