The Day of Caring was established in 1994 by the United Way of Western Connecticut to promote the spirit and value of volunteerism, increase the awareness of local human service agencies, and demonstrate what people working together for the community's good can accomplish.
The Project Site Coordinator will: Attend meetings for committee/sub-committee as scheduled by Chair and United Way Staff person. Meetings will be scheduled during the months of April through October Volunteer/appoint person to Chair/Captain Project Site Coordinator’s sub-committee Work with Chair and United Way Coordinator to review projects submitted by local agencies. If not enough projects, canvass area for additional projects. Project Site Committee is the liaison between the United Way Coordinator at the Company and the Agency/project Review project with Agency to determine number of volunteers needed, skills, time of project, difficulty of project, etc. Coordinate with Donations/Recognition Committee for any supplies that might be needed to complete the project Contact Company to schedule site visit, remind them to place t-shirt order with you, and have them complete necessary paper work on time Contact Agency to schedule Site visit with Company Remind Company/Agency to RSVP with number of attendees for “Kickoff” Breakfast Prior to Day of Caring make sure that Companies and Agencies attend specified training Ensure that there is a liaison from United Way or Company person to coordinate project on Day of Caring Liaison to attend training prior to Day of Caring
