Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on July 24, 2009 |
We run a Book Shop for the Friends of the Library. One of its two sites needs a manager. This person would be available onsite several times a week to oversee the intake, cleaning, and sorting of our inventory, all of which is donated by the public. He or she would manage, train, and support the 30 volunteers who run our shop, some of whom are on site whenever the library is open. He or she would also oversee sales in the shop, and maintain excellent relations with our customers. Our previous manager volunteered about sixteen hours/week. We have back up for when our manager is on vacation. Others on the management team at the Main Library Shop, as well as the Harry Bennett assistant manager and many seasoned volunteers will enthusiastically support our Harry Bennett Manager. Applicants must be completely dedicated to our mission. They must be rock-solid reliable, and book savvy. Computer literacy is a must, as is a willingness to communicate clearly and often with volunteers and other managers, via phone, meetings, and our blog. We need someone who leads, motivates, and direct others with grace. Applicants must be able to set a professional tone within our volunteer organization, and work hard to benefit our library. This opportunity is sponsored by: Friends of Ferguson Library Used Book Shops
