Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on July 24, 2009 |
We need help scheduling our 100 volunteers, who keep our two Book Shops open whenever our libraries are open. We use Volgistics, a web-based software application, to schedule over 50 shifts/week. The scheduler keeps an eye on the schedule on an ongoing (daily) basis, assuring coverage. He or she recruits subs for open shifts by e-mailing, blogging, and telephoning. Volunteers can place themselves on the schedule, as well as remove themselves, and most work regular shifts, so the scheduler mostly responds to immediate concerns. Almost all of this work can be performed from your home computer, tho' you are welcome to work from the Main Library Book Shop workroom. Our current scheduler works about one hour/day on the schedule.
This volunteer must be completely comfortable working with computers. We will train on Volgistics, specifically. Applicants must be willing to maintain records and run reports. A clear speaking voice and fluent telephone English is a must. Applicants must be willing to carry our scheduler cell phone. He or she must arrange new applicant interviews, and be prompt, courteous, and reliable. We require a minimum one-year commitment to this position
