Become a member of a team of dedicated volunteers who care for cats while they await adoption into loving homes. Strays and Others rents space in a private home where volunteers come twice a day to clean, feed and care for more than 25 homeless and unwanted cats at any particular time. This is not a public shelter. Visitation of potential adopters is through appointment only and can only be arranged through an authorized Adoption Counselor. The majority of cats are not caged, and they enjoy dozens of comfy beds, sunny window sills, and cat perches on which to snooze. Shelter Volunteers manage one shift per week which requires a minimum of 2 ½ hours, and both morning and evening shifts are available. Specific duties include: scooping litter boxes, vacuuming, feeding and changing water bowls, and administering medications as necessary. Playing and interacting with our shelter cats is also encouraged and is usually found to be highly rewarding for all participants involved! Experience with, and knowledge of, cats and their care are necessary. If you love to be surrounded by dozens of mingling cats, and you don't mind a bit of cleaning, then this is the place for you! References required.
Hands-on training will be provided. This opportunity is sponsored by: Strays and Others, Inc.
