Emergency Blood Coverage (EBC) Volunteers assist the American Red Cross and Greenwich Hospital by helping to transport blood products from one site to another during emergency situations; although locations and situations do vary. Each volunteer carries a pager, which can be picked up at the Chapter and will be called only by Greenwich Hospital during an Emergency Blood Request. A drive to an area hospital in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, or Yale-New Haven is needed to pick up blood products, followed by its drop-off at Greenwich Hospital. Overall Experience

Rewarding way to serve the community

The work done by volunteers at the Red Cross includes teaching first aid and CPR classes, volunteering to man first-aid stations at large outdoor events, and helping people who have been displaced from their homes by fire or natural disasters.
