Do you have a kind heart, compassion for the elderly and a lot of patience? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for several volunteers who would be interested in learning how to work in small groups or 1:1 with our residents with dementia.We utilize simple tasks and activities to promote cognitive stimulation with our residents. Volunteers would be trained how to facilitate an activity or task. Candidates should be comfortable working with memory impaired elderly residents, tolerant of disruptive and nonsocial behaviors and comfortable working independently after being trained.All volunteers are required to have an annual tuberculosis test which Smith House will provide if the volunteer has not had one done.
