Junior Achievement Of Arizona, Inc. - Southern District
Junior Achievement of Arizona, Inc. inspires and prepares K-12 students for the global workplace. Our volunteer-led classes focus on financial literacy, workplace readiness, and entrepreneurship.
Description:
Junior Achievement (JA) teaches children practical economic concepts to prepare them to become productive members of our communities. Volunteers who work through JA get dramatic results: young people who have exposure to JA are nearly 25% more likely to graduate from high school (93% vs. 70%) and are more likely to attend college (73% vs. 60%). In the Tucson region, we will reach 11,500 students in 2000-10, more than in any previous year of our existence. We are classroom-based, real-world focused, and funded entirely through private donations. Our volunteers receive a two-hour training which equips them to offer our prepared curriculum to young people in the grade level of their choice, ages 5 to 18. Each volunteer is provided with a full curriculum kit, free of charge, and we encourage our volunteer-teachers to personalize lessons with observations from their own careers and school years. If you like to think and discuss finance, business ethics, and entrepreneurship, you will enjoy this program!
