Friends Of The Pima County Public Library
Our mission has 5 parts to it. We support the library and promote literacy, raise funds to enhance library services and programs, encourage community involvement, promote love of reading/love of learning and recirculate materials in environmentally responsible ways.
Description:
Since 1969 thousands of volunteers have donated their time to help us raise funds to support programs and services provided by the Pima County Public Library. We raise funds through community books sales, selling books at local library branches, and we also sell books online year round. Some of the programs we help sponsor include the following: The Summer Reading Program which encourages children and teens to read during the summer. This program reaches more than 30,000 young people. The Tucson Writer's Project develops programs and projects that focus on creative writing, personal expression, literature, humanities and publishing. TWP works with participants to foster a love and appreciation of the written word. Project LIFT encourages teen parents to read to their preschool children and promotes the value of placing books in the home. Technology for Branches provides thousands of dollars for technology, allowing the public access to computers, the Internet and information technology.
