Community Food Bank
Through education, advocacy, and the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food, we will anticipate and meet the food needs of the hungry in Pima County.
Description:
The Community Food Bank opened in 1976 and presently distributes enough food to prepare 32,793 meals every day of the year. Perishable food is saved from waste from restaurants, learning institutions, resorts, and grocery stores; other food is donated through food drives, from farmers, produce brokers, the United States Department of Agriculture, and corporations. This food is distributed to children, families, and individuals in Pima County through over 380 community-based agencies and organizations.
