The Nature Conservancy - AZ - Tucson
Our Mission is to preserve plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
Description:
The Nature Conservancy protects specific places where plant and animal species can survive for generations to come. An international, nonconfrontational organization, we employ a scientific, systematic analysis to identify places large enough in scale and rich enough in plant and animal species to ensure meaningful conservations results. At each place, we employ a range of strategies tailored to local circumstances. We buy land. We help other landowners manager their properties. We facilitate public-private partnerships and collaborate with like-minded partners. The Arizona chapter has been working for nearly forty years and have helped protect more than 1.5 million acres in the state. There are 13 preserves in Arizona with six open to the public.
