Community Home Repair Projects Of Arizona

Agency Details:

Community Home Repair Projects Of Arizona

We provide emergency and urgent home repair services for low income homeowners in Tucson and throughout Pima County. Our mission is to enable people to live safely, affordably and securely in their own homes. Of all the housing—related agencies in Tucson and Pima County, we are known as the quickest responders for emergency repairs. We receive referrals through government and non-government agencies, utility companies, hospitals, home health care workers, school wellness programs, and word-of-mouth.

Description:
Our emergency home repair services include gas, water and drain plumbing, electrical repairs, heating and cooling, roof repair, doors and windows, floor repairs and wheelchair ramps. Our work is grant-funded, though we do ask our clients to contribute what they can to the work. Most of our clients are elderly or disabled, on fixed income, or female-headed households with young children. We provide tools, trucks, and a work partner. We work Monday through Thursday, from 8 to 4:30. Flexible schedules are acceptable, though we ask volunteers to come for the whole day, since they are on a job with another worker. We do not require that volunteers be technical experts, as we can arrange for them to work with someone who has the necessary skills, but our work does involve moderate physical labor, so volunteers need to be comfortable working a full day.
