GREEN LOTS Youth Volunteer Corps Projects

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 5, 2009

The Sonoran Desert is one of the most unique and biodiverse habitats in the entire world, and yet it is being bulldozed, burned, overgrazed, and rubbed out by invasive plant species. Come join the Ironwood Tree Experience, a local non-profit working with kids in nature, to help restore a local city lot to a healthy Sonoran desert eco-system (aka: a Green Lot). We will be focusing on rainwater harvesting, green building, invasive species eradication, and site design. Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, bring a water bottle, a hat, and your passion for making a positive impact in your local environment!

Volunteers must be between the ages of 11 and 18!

I LOVE HUMMINGBIRDS
I had so much fun at this project! I had to get up REALLY early and we had a long car ride but it was totally worth it! My favorite part was being able to catch the hummingbirds on my own. I learned a lot about these awesome birds. ~Jessica S.
