Harvest fresh fruits and vegetables along side refugees interested in improving the nutrition level of their families and others in the community. The food resources that exist in any given neighborhood are many. Taking advantage of these local food assets means making our own community more sustainable. There are abundant food resources within Tucson's neighborhoods. Any given fruit tree can produce 10 to 50 times what an individual or family can put to use. The remainder of these resources often end up in landfills or left to rot. This excess of readily available, nutritious food can be redistributed to others, making efficient use of local resources and providing a wonderful way for neighbors to meet one another. As a volunteer you will help harvest and locate new donation sites for future fruit gleaning. We harvest excess citrus, figs, plums, squash, pumpkins, dates, corn, pomegranates and more. This opportunity is sponsored by: Iskash*taa Refugee Harvesting Network
