CA$H Volunteer or Resource Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on May 8, 2009

Do you have a background in financial education or financial literacy? Do you have a willingness to share financial opportunities with others? Are you familiar with public benefits for low to-moderate income families? Would you like to help make low-income families more aware of public benefits and help them manage their finances? The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax help to people who cannot afford paid professional assistance. VITA Sites offer free electronic filing of tax returns along with opportunities for taxpayers to protect and build on their new assets through financial education and benefit bundling. The CA$H volunteers will run credit reports, refer taxpayers to financial education courses, provide short-term and long-term savings opportunities and run benefit checks.

The CA$H Volunteer will be required to attend a training for a total of eight hours that will make the volunteer aware of different public benefits and how to print credit reports and benefit checks. The volunteer must commit to volunteer an average of 4 hours per week.
