Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on November 6, 2009 |
The Eastside Neighbors Volunteer Program (ENVP) has openings for Yard Work Helpers. ENVP provides assistance to senior citizens in various areas of East Tucson including light yard work. Volunteers are connected with neighbors who need help, fostering a sense of community and involvement. We try to limit the work to 1.5 / 2 hours. The task may include raking leaves and debris, pruning small trees and bushes, trimming grass and weeds, and picking up trash around the property. The homeowner provides the tools, and is responsible for any hauling needed afterward. We do not provide yard work usually during the months of June, July, or August due to heat and possible monsoons. This is an excellent opportunity for inter-generational contact and social activity. Youth groups or families can work with elderly or disabled residents and build relationships that teach old-fashioned neighborly care.
A free two-hour training is provided by PCOA, NCA, and ENVP for all new volunteers. Please call our office at 245-4729 and ask about other service opportunities. This opportunity is sponsored by: Eastside Neighbors Volunteer Program
