Program name: Youth Development Program
Description : Desert Dove Farm offers ongoing life skills programs for youth ages 9 and up. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy uses horses in non-riding activities to help youth learn responsibility, coping skills, communication skills, teamwork skills, empowerment and improved social, emotional and behavioral functioning.
By working with horses youth have the opportunities to: gain insight into overcoming obstacles in their lives; learn skills that empower them to change life patterns; understand the differences between passive, assertive and aggressive behaviors; and experience group dynamics with peers and/or family members.
Programs are once a week for 17 weeks and each session is 1.25 hours long.
Hours of Operation: Sunday - Friday / 9am - 5pm
Eligibility Requirements: This program is not gender or race specific and equally targets boys and girls from any background. The specific needs of our participants varies from diagnosis including ADHD, OCD to basic needs for social skills and cues to a desire for heightened self-esteem.
Intake Procedure: Initial phone conversation with our office.
Insurance Information: We currently except Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Tri-Care and youth enrolled at Pantano, Providence and La Frontera.

Fees: $50/Session, sliding fee for qualifying families and scholarships when available.
