Experience Corps is a highly acclaimed national program that engages volunteers ages 55 and older in literacy tutoring at local elementary schools. Experience Corps tutors commit to 12-15 hours of volunteering per week and receive a modest stipend. Recently, the Tucson program was granted 32 new slots for stipended Experience Corps volunteers.
An individual(s) is needed who can actively seek out ways to inform the communities around participating elementary schools about the Experience Corps program and the volunteer opportunities within the program. You will present to local community groups and organizations, develop recruitment materials, utilize current Experience Corps media, and write informative releases or advertising for local newspapers, magazines, and publications.
You must be 55 years of age or older and willing to make a one year commitment of 450 hours. You must be able to take direction, be punctual and have excellent writing and verbal skills. Experience in marketing is highly desirable.
In return, you’ll develop relationships with community leaders and make a difference in our town. In addition, you’ll receive a bi-weekly stipend of $107.92, create your own hours, and have the option to complete some work at home.
