Learning to Make Positive Life Choices

The Mentoring Empowerment Program,  with the help of volunteer mentors, assists and empowers previously incarcerated individuals with reconnecting to our community.

The goal is to assist the re-entry population (prior non-violence convictions) to attain a greater quality of life by providing encouragement, problem solving, facilitating personal growth, developing healthy relationships, exploring resources and networking in the community.

The mentor can help an individual realize their unlimited potential and achieve positive results in their occupation, personal lives and community.  The mentoring process can be one-on-one or group mentoring.   Both approaches emphasize communication, problem solving, connection to the community and the building of  trust.

The Mentoring Empowerment Program, developed by Old Pueblo Community Foundation, is a leading edge component of the Pima County Prisoner Re-Entry Partnership (PREP) to reduce recidivism.
