The DISTRICT Office
Sounds impressive? Your resume can be, too.
The Department of Economic Security (DES) has a District Office downtown. It’s a very busy place.
Volunteers are needed to help with general clerical tasks such as answering phones, routing calls, filing, copying and data entry. There may be in-person interaction with the public so excellent customer service skills are needed.
This position can be an interesting get-out-of-the-house-and-meet-people position for a retired person or young mother. It’s also the equivalent of an entry level clerical job, and for folks wishing to find clerical employment, they can benefit from their volunteer experience as the DES office.
An ideal volunteer is the one who takes the initiative to learn the answers to callers' questions; the one who cheerfully offers to do extra copying; the one who figures out a faster, simpler way to manage data. These initiatives will make you noticed, and will make your resume shine.
