Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers assist low to moderate-income families, those with disabilities, non-English speaking individuals, and seniors, with free tax preparation. Taxes prepared by VITA Volunteers bring millions of dollars back to Tucson working families.
By volunteering, you can directly help a working family's income by up to 40%. Last year VITA volunteers prepared 3,361 tax returns, brought back to families $2.1 million in Earned Income Tax Credit funds and $4.4 million in overall federal refunds; and they saved families over $800,000 in tax preparation fees. By increasing income to working families the VITA program directly effects the family's or individual's ability to become or remain financially stable.
You make a difference. Our goal is to increase the number of low-income working families served, and we don't have enough volunteers to make this happen.
Certified IRS training is FREE!
A comment from one of our VITA volunteers: "The best part of being a VITA volunteer is the genuine sense of appreciation from the taxpayer when they hear how much money they are getting back from the IRS."
