University of Arizona Museum of Art
Field Visit and Education Outreach volunteers are imaginative, flexible, eager learners and good listeners. They enjoy engaging others and talking about various types of art. These volunteers travel to venues in Tucson and Southern Arizona sharing information about the Museum and its collections with various audiences. - Field Visit volunteers present one-hour programs on UAMA's permanent collection, special exhibitions or related art topics to audiences that include adult groups, assisted-living or nursing home residents. Volunteers work with Education Department staff to develop three traveling slide show lectures. Volunteers are expected to present one program a month throughout the year.
- Education Outreach volunteers combine interactive discussion about art appreciation and interpretation with hands-on art activities through the Art á la Cart program. Volunteers travel to area schools, K-8, for an hour-long presentation. Training, which includes art immersion, observation and team teaching sessions, engages student audiences in meaningful interdisciplinary discussion about artwork. Volunteers are expected to present two programs per month, September - May.
