Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

VITA volunteers prepare tax returns at no cost for people who cannot afford professional assistance.  They assist

  • low to moderate-income families
  • people living with disabilities
  • seniors
  • and non-English speaking individuals

VITA volunteers help insure that taxpayers claim all credits and refunds for which they qualify, including Earned Income Tax Credits and Child Tax Credits.  It's like giving a $4,000 gift to someone you've never met before!

Volunteers receive extensive free training through the IRS.  Positions include greeting clients, preparing or reviewing tax returns, coordinating community sites, or maintaining computer systems. .
