Emerald Youth Foundation
To raise up a large number of urban youth to love Jesus Christ and become effective leaders who help renew their communities
Description:
Through JustLead and our other ministry opportunities, we serve young people via a growing network of urban churches. Approximately 1,000 children and youth and about 250 committed adult volunteers participate annually. Components of Emerald Youth Foundation include: JustLead (our flagship ministry), Emerald Sports, city-wide events and activities, our accountability system – tracking of participant and financial data, adult screening, etc. and Emerald University (our staff, AmeriCorps, and volunteer training program). JustLead is an urban youth leadership ministry. Started in 1999 by Emerald Youth Foundation, JustLead utilizes a revolutionary approach to youth ministry with a mission to create “just leaders” who will grow up loving Jesus Christ and making our city better. JustLead is administered through a network of local member churches where young people become part of congregations and participate in fun and meaningful growth experiences along with their families. History:
Emerald Youth Foundation is a non-denominational, urban children and youth ministry located in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee. Our ministry grew out of a vision of Emerald Avenue United Methodist Church in 1988 to serve young people in the low to moderate income community of Oakwood-Lincoln Park in North Knoxville. Emerald Youth Foundation was incorporated in 1991 as a 501 (c)(3) organization, and in 1999, started a youth leadership development ministry that is now called JustLead.
