Ijams Nature Center's mission is to develop and maintain the park as a wildlife sanctuary. Ijams seeks to increase knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of the natural world by providing quality environmental educational programs and nature-related experiences for all people.

Description:
Environmental Education is the most important part of Ijams Nature Center's mission. Therefore, Ijams is "Program Central" for educational initiatives and wildlife experiences both at Ijams and throughout East Tennessee. From Bug Nights to Day Camps, School Field Trips to River Rescue, Ijams has it all!

Volunteers keep Ijams growing in many different ways. They are an integral part of our education programs, our development activities, and our grounds maintenance. Their dedication and generous donation of time make things run smoothly. Staff alone could not accomplish the growth we have experienced in the past few years.
