CASA Of East Tennessee
Our mission is to provide trained volunteers to advocate for safe, permanent and loving homes for abused and neglected children, speaking up for children who have no one else to speak up for them.
Description:
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers are ordinary citizens, specially trained to work alongside attorneys and social workers as officers of the court appointed by the judge to speak up for abused and neglected children. The agency is constantly looking for mature, objective volunteers willing to commit to a child for at least one year. CASA works to match each child involved with the Juvenile Court Family Services Division for abuse or neglect concerns with a trained CASA volunteer dedicated to helping the child find a safe, permanent, nurturing home where that child can develop to his or her full potential. Because all children have a right to a home with loving people to care for them.
History:
CASA of East Tennessee, Inc. has been serving children in Knox and Hamblen Counties since 1987. In 1993, Blount and Sevier Counties were added. The agency is a member in good standing of the National CASA and Tennessee CASA Associations.
