Position Objective and Term of Service: To provide up to 8 hours a month to Child & Family Tennessee as an unpaid volunteer for 3 months.

Essential Functions:

  • Participate in various trainings that include, but are not limited to, First Steps, Child Abuse & Neglect, Universal Precautions, and Nurtured Heart
  • Arrive at scheduled time and interact with youth by reading aloud, utilizing toys, games, and activities provided by Child & Family Tennessee
  • Assist in keeping nursery clean (no diaper changing)
  • Participate in and / or provide youth activities that are approved by Child & Family Tennessee
  • Serve as a volunteer representative of Child & Family Tennessee in the community.
  • Communicate with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure the success of you as the volunteer, as well as the success of Child & Family Tennessee
  • Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be female
    • Must have own transportation or ability to arrive at the program at scheduled time
    • Must be available weekly for a 2 hour time period on weekdays between the hours of 9:00am and 11:00am or 2:30pm and 4:30pm
    • Must be comfortable interacting with children from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years

    • Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills (assertive, yet verbally affirming – i.e. “You can do it!”)
    • Must be positive and have a good outlook on life
    • Ability to interact with children while utilizing the rules, regulations, and standards of Child & Family Tennessee
    • Ability to speak, read, and write English at a High School Level
    • High level of motivation, enthusiasm, energy, and creativity
