Aide for Afterschool Programs

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 16, 2009

Framingham Public School children enrolled in the 21st Century afterschool/summer programs need your help. They thrive with one-to-one or small group attention. Budget cuts make this increasingly more difficult. We rely on volunteers to support our professional staff during Homework Zone and our enrichment clubs. Please join us! Volunteers need to commit to one day each week per semester for at least one hour at the middle school level or for 1.5 hours at the elementary school. Students look to adults for support and encouragement, and your involvement will make a difference. Our programs consistently show marked student improvement.

We ask volunteers to make a minimum six week commitment for one hour each week on the same day or 1.5 hours for the elementary school program. Programs run Monday-Thursday, beginning on October 5th this fall and ending on January 21st. The spring programs run February 22-May 20th. Summer programs usually run four weeks in July. Below are the times for each of the four schools' programs:
Middle School Hours:
Cameron: 3:15-4:15pm: Homework Zone and snack; 4:15-5:15: Clubs Fuller and Walsh: 2:30-3:30: Homework Zone and snack; 3:30-4:30: Clubs

Woodrow Wilson Elementary School Hours:
3:00-4:30: Block A and snack
4:30-6pm: Block B and parent pick up
Students may participate in a club or Homework Zone during either Block A or B.
